SHC Namang is a center for learning and knowledge exchange between facilitators and pepper farmers covering two sub-districts and nine surrounding villages. As a facilitator at SHC Namang, Changemaker plays a role in assisting various activities such as discussions, training, meetings, and field practice with assisted farmers. Changemaker’s main focus is to help farmers understand pepper cultivation techniques, controlling plant pests (OPT), post-harvest, and implementing agroforestry systems.
The uniqueness of this region lies in the relatively small number of pepper farmers compared to other regions, but they have a high enthusiasm for learning and are strong in the spirit of mutual cooperation. This cannot be separated from their previous experience in participating in farmer field school programs. With quick understanding and high initiative in adopting new knowledge, farmers at SHC Namang show great enthusiasm for cultivating high-value crops. This condition makes SHC Namang a strategic forum for introducing new commodities and encouraging independent and sustainable farmer empowerment in the future.
