Today, farmers from the Sungkap group carried out a key organic material management activity at Kebun Nusantara, PT. Cinquer Agro Nusantara (CAN). The main focus was on turning the group’s compost pile, a crucial stage in the decomposition process to ensure even maturation and nutrient-rich compost. This task was done collaboratively, not only as part of routine compost maintenance, but also as a hands-on learning opportunity for farmers to better understand effective compost management practices.
In addition, the team also facilitated a compost distribution from Tanahara to Kebun Nusantara using a mutual borrowing-exchange system between farmer groups. This initiative reflects the spirit of collaboration and mutual support among smallholder farmers within the aGROWforests network. The compost delivered will be used to enrich soil fertility and boost productivity in plots currently undergoing planting or soil restoration phases.
Today’s activity goes beyond compost—it reflects how social capital and solidarity among farmers serve as a cornerstone in building a farming system that is independent, efficient, and sustainable. Kebun Nusantara continues to serve as a living demonstration site—not only for growing crops, but also for cultivating values of collaboration and grassroots regeneration.
